1.Sealing: It is installed between the exhaust manifold and the engine cylinder block. Its key function is to prevent the high - temperature exhaust gas from leaking out of the connection, ensuring the airtightness of the exhaust system. If the gasket is damaged, exhaust gas leakage will occur, which will affect the exhaust efficiency of the engine, reduce its power output, and may also lead to abnormal engine operation, such as increased noise and unstable idling.
2.Heat insulation: The exhaust manifold gasket is usually composed of metal and non - metal heat - insulation materials. It can isolate the heat generated by the exhaust manifold, prevent the heat from being transferred to the engine cylinder block and other components, effectively reduce the water temperature on the exhaust side of the cylinder head water jacket, and reduce the temperature difference between the intake and exhaust sides of the cylinder head water jacket. This helps to avoid thermal deformation of engine components caused by excessive temperature difference, thereby prolonging the service life of the engine cylinder head and other related components.
